Broomfield-based Gogo Business Aviation (NASDAQ: GOGO) revealed that over 1,000 successful over-the-air (OTA) updates on the globally-utilized AVANCE system software have been completed. This technological advancement replaces the old USB kit method – a hands-on and arduous process that from now on can be bypassed, allowing simultaneous updates across all aircraft.
The AVANCE’s OTA feature indicates a new stage of operator efficiency in alignment with Gogo’s objectives. The AVANCE platform, purposefully designed for evolving technologies and networks, includes Gogo Galileo, a Low Earth Orbit satellite solution providing worldwide connectivity, and Gogo 5G for North American operators.
“OTA addresses the largest problem we’ve heard from our fleet customers: updating aircraft positioned around the world. OTA eliminates this logistical issue and makes access to our most up-to-date and value-add features easier than ever,” said Sanjeev Nagpal, senior vice president of product management for Gogo.
As the company gears up for the predicted launch of its Gogo Galileo and Gogo 5G products, OTA will further incorporate antenna software updates. The company’s latest AVANCE software update v4.4 integrated OTA, achieving record-fast adoption within Gogo’s 30-year history. Coordinating OTA with Gogo DASH, a toolkit app exclusive to AVANCE customers, passed in combination with a Gogo Cloudport, software upgrade timelines have been reduced by 83%.
Gogo, a provider of broadband connectivity services for the business aviation market, reported 7,136 business aircraft equipped with its broadband ATG systems onboard by March 31, 2024. Among them, 4,110 aircraft are flying with a Gogo AVANCE L5 or L3 system and 4,285 aircraft have installed narrowband satellite connectivity.
