The City of Littleton has announced the appointment of Rachel King as its new economic development director. King previously served as the deputy director of economic vitality for the City and County of Broomfield, where she focused on business development, economic initiatives and housing programs.
Before her role in Broomfield, King held several positions in the City and County of Denver, including director of administration and federal compliance for Denver Economic Development and Opportunity and the Department of Housing Stability. Her background also includes experience in the financial sector, academia and as a legal policy consultant for nonprofits.
King holds a doctorate in land use law from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She is a member of the bar associations in Florida and Colorado and has a mediation certification from the State of Florida. Additionally, she serves on the board of directors for the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster.
“Littleton is special,” King said. “It’s a vibrant community known for its historic charm, strong culture, and community spirit, and it offers a dynamic environment to foster business growth, attract new investments, and support redevelopment. Professionally, pursuing this role provides a natural next step for my career. I’m excited to contribute to the promising future of this unique community, and I’m thrilled to join the team and support the city’s vision.”
Having lived in Colorado since 2010, King enjoys traveling, cooking, road biking, cheering for Florida football and engaging in activities related to the state. She will officially begin her role with the city Oct. 28, succeeding former Economic Development Director Cindie Perry, who retired in May after three years in the position.
