Metronet has announced plans to expand its fiber-optic internet services to the City of Westminster. The broadband provider will invest $34 million to deliver ultra-high-speed internet to residents and businesses in the area.
With this investment, Westminster will become the second community in Colorado – after Colorado Springs – to receive access to residential multi-gigabit speeds of up to 5 gigabits and business speeds of up to 10 gigabits. Construction is set to begin this fall, with the expectation that the first customers will be connected by spring 2025.
Mayor Nancy McNally expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are excited to welcome Metronet’s state-of-the-art fiber-optic internet to Westminster. As a small business owner, I know that access to fast, reliable internet is a necessity for our residents and businesses. Metronet’s advanced network will be a driver in economic development, enhancing quality of life and keeping our community at the forefront of the digital future.”
Once construction begins, residents will be informed by mail and through yard signs about the upcoming activity in their neighborhoods. Evansville, Ind.-based Metronet plans to hire local staff, including management, sales, customer service professionals and service technicians to support the Westminster area.
Metronet currently offers service in over 300 communities across 18 states.
