Smoothie King Grows in Colorado, Seeking Franchisees for Expansion

Smoothie King, the Dallas-based smoothie brand, is expanding its presence in Colorado with two new store openings and six future store commitments including stores in Lakewood and Wheat Ridge. This move comes after the brand opened five new locations in Colorado in 2023.

The first of the two new franchise-owned stores opened earlier this fall in Longmont, while the second store opened on Oct. 14, in Glendale. Both locations are part of the Denver DMA, which is crucial for the brand’s growth. With these additions, Smoothie King’s presence in Colorado will increase by nearly 60%, expanding from 14 stores to a total of 22. The six future openings are set to occur over the next three years in Lafayette, Highlands Ranch, Wheat Ridge, Lakewood, Englewood and Parker.

“We are thrilled to expand our footprint not only in the Denver area — a key market for Smoothie King — but more broadly throughout Colorado, a state where we still have plenty of growth opportunity for new and existing franchisees,” said Chris Bremer, chief development officer at Smoothie King.

Smoothie King offers a selection of smoothies and beverages that prioritize whole fruits and vegetables. Its Clean Blends initiative ensures that smoothies are made without artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, and added sugars. The brand is currently seeking franchisees in Colorado, with 64 trade areas available for development.

Founded in 1973, Smoothie King operates over 1,200 units nationwide and focuses on health and wellness through its menu offerings and products, including smoothies, smoothie bowls, sports beverages, energy bars, vitamins and supplements.
