Ball Corp. Acquires Alucan to Enhance Sustainable Packaging

Ball Corp., a Broomfield-based provider of sustainable aluminum packaging, acquired Alucan, a European leader in extruded aluminum aerosol and bottle technology.

The acquisition expands Ball’s existing global extruded aluminum aerosol and bottle business by adding manufacturing facilities in Llinars del Vallés (Barcelona), Spain, and Lummen, Belgium. This move aligns with Ball’s strategy to simplify sustainability for its customers by delivering scalable aluminum packaging solutions and meeting the growing demand for sustainable packaging in Europe.

Both facilities feature advanced technology aimed at minimizing environmental impact. The acquisition will enhance Ball’s capacity in large-diameter aerosol can and impact-extruded bottles, supporting its reusable bottles customers.

“We are excited to welcome Alucan to Ball,” said Jay Billings, president of Ball Growth Ventures. “Alucan has built a strong reputation over many years as the leading specialty impact-extruded aerosol and bottle producer in Europe. By integrating Alucan’s expertise, we can offer greater flexibility, innovation, and capacity to help our customers bring new products to market faster and more sustainably, ensuring that we remain a trusted partner in driving our customers’ success.”

The integration of Alucan will enhance Ball’s innovation efforts and help reduce its carbon footprint. Ball Corp. employs 16,000 people globally and reported $12.06 billion in net sales for 2023, excluding its divested aerospace business.
