Arvada Aquatics Center Opening Nov. 23

The City of Arvada, Jeffco Public Schools and Apex Park and Recreation District will celebrate the grand opening of the new Arvada Aquatics Center (AAC) on Saturday, Nov. 23. The AAC, a collaboration between the three entities, is designed to be one of the largest natatoriums in Colorado, enhancing aquatic recreation and competition in the region.

The 50,000-square-foot facility features a 50-meter competition pool with adjustable bulkheads, a secondary 25-yard pool for swim lessons and exercise, a diving well with various springboards and platforms, spectator seating for over 800, and universal changing rooms to ensure accessibility for all visitors.

Designed by OLC Architecture and constructed by Saunders Construction, the AAC utilizes Myrtha Pool technology to enhance durability and swimmer performance. An advanced timing system relays live results during competitions, and a 3D laser scan was used to ensure that the competitive pool meets international standards.

The AAC is on track for LEED Silver certification, employing water-saving filtration systems, high-efficiency landscaping, and energy-saving measures. A partnership with the Colorado Energy Office will also fund 10 EV charging stations.

Kim Vagher, project manager for the City of Arvada, said, “The completion of this state-of-the-art aquatics facility has been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Community members are invited to the grand opening festivities, which will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, facility tours and family-friendly activities.
