New GFiber Headquarters Opens in Lakewood

Lakewood Mayor Wendi Strom and City Council members helped Google Fiber officially open its Colorado headquarters Nov. 25 in Belmar, Downtown Lakewood, with a ribbon cutting. This event marks a milestone in the city’s efforts to improve high-speed digital accessibility for residents and businesses.

Lakewood is the first city in Colorado to receive the GFiber network. The new headquarters will oversee the installation of the network in other cities across the metro area, state and region. GFiber chose to establish its Colorado headquarters in Lakewood after a competitive selection process due to the city’s prime location, ability to engage with the community and strong relationships with city economic development, public works and leadership staff.

The headquarters reflects the city’s commitment to economic development. “We’re really excited to be part of the Lakewood community,” said Alberto Garcia, GFiber’s government and community affairs manager for Colorado, Idaho and Utah. “It’s a real testament to the vision of the leadership of the mayor, of City Council, of city staff that they wanted to bring this additional internet option to Colorado. Lakewood was our first city, it was the first place we signed, it’s the first place we’re serving customers, and now it’s going to be our home.”

Residents in Lakewood have begun using GFiber’s network, with the first customers going live in September. The rollout will continue across neighborhoods, providing increased competition and choice for high-speed internet.

The headquarters is situated facing Belmar’s Plaza, providing employees easy access to downtown Lakewood amenities. It features a Colorado mural painted by a local artist, along with decorative elements like skis and snowshoes. Conference rooms are named after Pikes Peak and other well-known landmarks in Colorado.
