Trimble, Daimler Truck Integrate Systems to Enhance Truck Maintenance

Trimble Inc. (Nasdaq: TRMB) and Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) have announced the integration of Trimble Road Call, a vehicle breakdown module within Trimble TMT Fleet Maintenance, with Freightliner Service Tracker. The integration was launched at the Technology & Maintenance Council’s Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition, aiming to simplify the complex repair process for commercial fleets.

Industry averages suggest that 2.5% to 5% of a single fleet is in the shop for repairs on a given day. Repair and maintenance costs grew by 3.1% in the last year, while parts and labor continue to rise. As original equipment manufacturers and service providers introduce multiple software solutions, maintenance managers face numerous options for vehicle repairs, often leading to duplicate workflows and inefficiencies. A single repair can take three to five days to complete, especially if communications aren’t digital.

The integration seeks to address these issues by offering a single user interface that connects various maintenance tools. Trimble Road Call’s integration with Service Tracker streamlines fleet maintenance by syncing equipment status and repairs. When equipment is activated or deactivated in TMT Fleet Maintenance, updates are instantly reflected in Service Tracker. Fleet managers and technicians can input repair details, with automatic generation of repair orders for disabled vehicles. The system also provides real-time status updates, notifying fleets when maintenance begins and when vehicles are ready.

“Together, Trimble and DTNA are simplifying maintenance and creating stronger connections between fleets and OEMs, ensuring that vehicles spend more time on the road and less time in the shop,” said Brian Mulshine, senior director, product management at Westminster-based Trimble.
