Lakewood-based Encore Electric has opened a new Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Lab Learning Center in the Prefabrication and Tool Center in Aurora. BICSI is a global organization that sets standards and provides training in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) field.
Kristopher Roon, operations manager for Encore Electric Technology Solutions, said, “The BICSI lab focuses on all of the standards, rules and regulations for the information and communications technologies.” He noted that this lab is one of only two labs in Colorado and that he is one of 278 BICSI trainers globally.
The BICSI lab features a mix of both outdated and cutting-edge technologies, providing students with essential hands-on training for various projects, buildings or installations. This includes cable installation, telecommunications distribution systems, data center designs and outside plant designs.
To celebrate the opening of the Technology Learning Center (TLC), Encore Electric held a ribbon-cutting event last week for the first BICSI class. The TLC serves as a learning hub for low-voltage professionals.
Tom Waltemath, Encore Electric director of technology solutions, stated, “It’s very important to have a career path for our people and to elevate them in the industry. With the BICSI lab, we can do this.” He emphasized the importance of supporting the next generation in the industry.
