Invest Qatar, the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar, has signed a strategic agreement with Quantinuum, a Broomfield-based provider of quantum computing and developer of a high-performing quantum computer. The partnership aims to bolster Qatar’s quantum computing ecosystem by supporting Quantinuum’s expansion into the region, highlighted during a recent state visit by the President of the United States.
Through this partnership, Invest Qatar will offer tailored support to Quantinuum, providing access to key stakeholders, sector-specific insights, and opportunities for collaboration with local innovation and research institutions. As the body responsible for promoting foreign direct investment in Qatar, Invest Qatar will also champion initiatives that encourage the adoption of quantum computing and highlight Quantinuum’s growing influence on the country’s technology landscape.
The agreement will facilitate Quantinuum’s efforts to apply quantum technologies in key sectors within Qatar, enhance local research and development (R&D) capabilities, and create skilled jobs while training the next generation of quantum professionals. This includes connecting with essential stakeholders, enabling R&D collaboration, and aligning with national initiatives focused on advancing quantum technologies.
Quantinuum will play a central role in improving Qatar’s quantum capabilities through various initiatives. These will include knowledge-sharing platforms, educational seminars and technical workshops led by Quantinuum’s global experts. The partnership also envisions joint research projects with Qatari academic and research institutions and will explore opportunities for local integration of quantum technologies.
Additionally, internship opportunities will be made available to students from Qatar-based universities, providing practical experience in real-world quantum computing applications.
Dr. Rajeeb Hazra, president and CEO of Quantinuum, described the company’s entry into Qatar as “an exciting new chapter in a region ready to lead in quantum computing.” He noted that the collaboration with Invest Qatar builds on existing initiatives, including a joint venture with Al Rabban Capital and a partnership with Hamad Bin Khalifa University. Hazra emphasized that the initiative aligns with growing U.S.-Qatar ties and aims to support local talent development and innovation in advanced technologies.
