Colorado Christian University Chancellor Donald Sweeting will conclude his service on June 30, 2025, as part of a restructuring plan for fiscal year 2026, the university reported in a release. Sweeting has been with the Lakewood university since 2004, serving as a trustee, president since 2016, and chancellor since 2022.
During his time at CCU, Sweeting has played a key role in advancing the university’s mission, expanding academic programs, and promoting spiritual growth, the university said. “Dr. Sweeting’s legacy at CCU is extraordinary,” said Eric Hogue, president of Colorado Christian University. “His leadership has helped shape a generation of students and faculty. He has stewarded the mission of Christ-centered higher education with wisdom, conviction and grace. We are deeply grateful for his impact on this community.”
Under Sweeting’s leadership, CCU saw record enrollment, added new academic offerings and launched strategic initiatives for future growth, including the introduction of a doctoral program and new residence facilities, the university said. He also navigated the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The restructuring includes the phasing out of the Office of the Chancellor, the introduction of a new Provost role to enhance academic organization, and plans for new university-wide technology, fundraising for key initiatives, and a marketing campaign to improve visibility and enrollment.
