Encore Electric Exec Joins Colorado State Apprenticeship Council

David Scott, director of external affairs at Lakewood-based Encore Electric, has been appointed to the Colorado State Apprenticeship Council. Scott, a long-time advocate for apprenticeships in the construction sector, will serve as a voting member on the Committee for Apprenticeship in the Building and Construction Trades.

In his new role, Scott will provide expertise to the State Apprenticeship Agency, which develops apprenticeship standards and program plans for Colorado. “I am honored to be part of the State Apprenticeship Council,” Scott said. “It is an opportunity to elevate the trades, and bring awareness not only to apprenticeships themselves, but all the opportunities that are available after apprenticeships. An apprenticeship is a foundation that can build lifelong careers.”

Scott’s appointment is viewed as a continuation of his two-decade commitment to fostering Colorado’s skilled workforce. Al Paxton, chief people officer at Encore Electric, noted that Scott’s insight will help shape policies benefiting aspiring electricians and support Encore Electric’s goal of growing talent and opportunity in the industry.

The Colorado State Apprenticeship Council was established in 2023 by the State Apprenticeship Agency following the signing of new workforce development statutes. The council includes 25 members and is divided into committees to advise on apprenticeship programs across various industries, ensuring fair and well-regulated opportunities.
