The 2025 rankings for hospitals in Jefferson County have been released, showing major shifts in location, capacity reporting, and facility status across the region. Based on certified bed counts in 2024 reported to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital leads the list with 338 certified beds.
This marks the hospital’s first full year operating from its new facility at Clear Creek Crossing in Wheat Ridge, following its move on Aug. 3, 2024. The relocation, aimed at improving emergency access in the western metro area, leaves the former Lutheran Medical Center campus vacant. Plans are underway to redevelop the 100-acre site into a walkable, mixed-use neighborhood, led by Colorado-based E5X Management Inc.
Coming in at No. 2 on the list is CommonSpirit – St. Anthony Hospital, reporting 237 certified beds. The roughly 60% drop in St. Anthony Hospital’s reported bed count — from 593 in 2023 to 237 in 2024 — is likely due not to an actual reduction in capacity, but to the difference between licensed beds (the maximum number a hospital is authorized to operate) and CMS-certified beds (those that are consistently staffed, available, and used for inpatient care).
Charter Hospital of Denver ranks third with 60 certified beds. OrthoColorado Hospital (48 beds), Wide Horizon Inc. (24 beds), and UCHealth Broomfield Hospital (22 beds) round out the rest of the list.
West Pines Behavioral Health is no longer included, following the closure of its Wheat Ridge facility in late 2024. It has since reopened in Westminster, Adams County, as a new 144-bed behavioral health hospital through a joint venture between Intermountain Health and Acadia Healthcare.
