Colorado Transportation Department Adopts Trimble Asset Management System

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is set to implement a new asset management software suite from Westminster-based Trimble Inc. to improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance costs. The software will be used by up to 1,200 employees to manage extensive assets, including over 26,000 lane miles of roads and 3,000 bridges.

Shawn Smith, director of the division of maintenance and operations at CDOT, stated, “The volume and complexity of our projects and maintenance work are increasing, along with pressure to minimize costs.” He explained that adopting the Trimble suite is part of a broader digital transformation aimed at streamlining processes, enhancing team connectivity, and facilitating advanced data analysis.

The Trimble Unity suite will allow CDOT to manage a wide range of assets efficiently, improving productivity and connectivity across various workflows, from planning to maintenance. “As state DOTs invest in technology to reduce total cost of asset ownership and do more with less, our end-to-end software suite for asset lifecycle management allows them the flexibility to manage asset data from capital planning through design, build and maintenance,” said Cyndee Hoagland, senior vice president at Trimble.

Woolpert, a partner of Trimble, will assist CDOT with the implementation and training on this new system. The project highlights the collaborative effort between Trimble, its customers, and service partners to enhance technology optimization for public infrastructure management.
