Vail Resorts Board of Directors members John Sorte and John Redmond will not seek reelection at the end of their terms, which concludes at the company’s 2025 Annual Meeting of Stockholders. Sorte has been with the board since 1993 and Redmond since 2008.
Throughout their tenures, both directors played a key role in transforming Broomfield-based Vail Resorts from a regional operator into a leading global mountain resort company. Their contributions have been significant in advancing the company’s mission to enhance experiences for both employees and guests.
Rob Katz, chairperson and CEO of Vail Resorts, expressed gratitude for their decades of service, highlighting their involvement in initiatives such as the launch of the Epic Pass and numerous strategic acquisitions.
Sorte reflected on his experience, saying, “Serving on Vail Resorts’ Board for over three decades has been an incredible experience.” Redmond also noted his enjoyment in contributing to the company’s growth since joining in 2008.
After Sorte’s and Redmond’s departures, the board will consist of nine members, eight of whom are independent. The company emphasized its commitment to maintaining a diverse and skilled board to support its strategic goals. Their decision to step down was not related to any disagreements regarding company operations or policies, the company stated.
