Gogo Receives FAA Approval for New Connectivity System

Gogo Inc. has been issued its first Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Gogo Galileo FDX terminal, approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The certification, processed by ALOFT AeroArchitects, pertains to Boeing Business Jet BBJ737-series aircraft, specifically the Boeing 737NG-based models. Future amendments will extend this approval to include Boeing 737 MAX BBJ variants.

The initial installation of the Gogo Galileo FDX terminal has already been completed on a Boeing BBJ 737-700IGW that previously lacked connectivity. Alongside the terminal, Gogo’s FlightDeck Freedom datalink service has been activated to enhance operational efficiency by enabling features such as trip planning, flight tracking and real-time weather information.

Chris Moore, CEO of Broomfield-based Gogo, stated, “We are extremely pleased to confirm this approval. This first FDX STC marks another major milestone as we strive to deliver multi-orbit, multi-band connectivity for all types of aircraft.”

The Gogo Galileo FDX terminal is designed for business aviation, providing high-speed broadband with substantial data speeds for multiple users. Its compatibility with the Eutelsat OneWeb low-earth orbit satellite system allows for improved connectivity during flights.

The second variant of the Gogo Galileo system is now available, which will support the approximately 200 Boeing BBJ 737s in global operation. Further approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency is expected later in 2025.
