ikeGPS Inc. has launched an automated assistant designed to streamline the analysis of utility pole data. This advanced tool, now integrated into IKE Office Pro, uses artificial intelligence and image recognition to speed up the process of annotating pole images and measuring attachment heights.
PolePilot automatically identifies and annotates equipment such as power and communication lines, transformers and streetlights on utility poles. This innovation aims to reduce the time and costs associated with data annotation, while minimizing human error and inconsistencies in the data collected.
The introduction of PolePilot enhances IKE’s existing automation capabilities, which already include functions for double wood detection and joint-use ticket management. Plans are in place to expand PolePilot’s automation features across other products within IKE’s asset management suite.
Beta testing of PolePilot showed promising results, with participants reporting faster annotation times and improved consistency. Testers also noted benefits in training new analysts and optimizing data display and reporting.
Broomfield-based ikeGPS has been providing data analysis solutions for overhead power and communication networks for over two decades and serves some of the largest utilities in North America.
