PharmaJet Technology to Aid Polio Campaign in Pakistan

PharmaJet has announced that its needle-free injection technology will be utilized in an upcoming polio immunization campaign in Pakistan scheduled for late 2025. This initiative comes as part of Pakistan’s expanded vaccination drive targeting children up to age 15, in response to a resurgence of polio cases in the country.

The campaign, which will take place in Lahore, aims to deliver fractional dose inactivated polio vaccine to children aged 4 months to 15 years. In 2024, Pakistan reported 74 cases of wild poliovirus type 1, prompting the need for enhanced immunization efforts.

PharmaJet’s needle-free system has previously demonstrated success in other vaccination campaigns, having protected over 12 million children in Pakistan, Nigeria, and Somalia, while increasing campaign coverage by over 18%. A recent study indicated that the technology also resulted in significant health care cost savings and strong preference among health care workers.

“We are pleased that our Tropis ID Needle-free System will continue to be used in polio eradication campaigns in Pakistan,” said Paul LaBarre, Senior Vice President Global Business Development, PharmaJet. The company reaffirms its commitment to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative and aims to support ongoing efforts against poliovirus in the region.
