Gogo Launches 5G In-Flight Connectivity Network

Broomfield-based Gogo Inc. has completed flight testing of its 5G connectivity network, setting the stage for high-speed internet services for North American customers starting in January 2026. The testing involved over 30 hours of flight across nearly 20 routes, demonstrating the network’s capability to deliver speeds exceeding 80 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, which can support streaming and internet browsing simultaneously.

The results of the test confirm the readiness of Gogo’s 5G network, which will cater to operators in contiguous North America and Southern Canada. The company has already signed on its first paying customer, with an additional 450 aircraft prepared to benefit from the service in the upcoming months. CEO Chris Moore said, “We talk a lot about milestones, and this is really an exceptional one for Gogo.”

To facilitate the rollout, Gogo has secured contracts covering major aircraft types in the continental U.S., needing only minor upgrades. As of now, 28 upgrades are completed, with five more expected by year-end, unlocking a potential market of over 7,500 aircraft and indicating strong growth prospects for Gogo’s services.
