KGL Acquires Arvada-Based Origin Editorial

KnowledgeWorks Global Ltd. (KGL), a division of CJK Group, Inc., announced the acquisition of Origin Editorial, a premier provider of peer-review management and editorial services headquartered in Arvada, Colorado. The deal, finalized in early March 2025, significantly bolsters KGL’s capacity to support the global academic publishing community.

Origin Editorial has long been recognized for its high-touch consultancy and workflow expertise. By acquiring the Arvada firm, KGL more than doubles its editorial and peer-review staff, expanding its “one-stop” content solutions model. The integration allows KGL to offer a more robust suite of services, including:

  • Peer Review Management: Specialized handling of manuscript workflows from submission to decision.
  • Editorial Consultancy: Strategic auditing and optimization of journal operations.
  • Research Integrity: Enhanced fraud detection and ethical oversight through KGL’s “Smart Review” technology.

Despite the change in ownership, the Arvada team will remain a central pillar of the operation. Origin’s co-founders, Kristen Overstreet and Jason Roberts, PhD, have joined KGL in senior leadership roles. Overstreet noted that the merger allows the team to maintain its “personal touch” while scaling its impact through KGL’s global infrastructure and advanced technology platforms.
