Biggest Jeffco High Schools: LHS Overtaken By AW, RV, Chatfield

Lakewood High School has fallen from its long-held position as the largest Jeffco high school based on enrollment. Arvada West High School now owns the top spot based on total school enrollment, with Ralston Valley Senior High School and Chatfield High School both overtaking Lakewood High. Chatfield is projected to have the largest graduating class in 2024 based on Colorado Department of Education data, with 12th grade 451 students.

Based on graduating class size, Arvada West ranks in the second position with 449 12th graders, taking a close lead over Ralston Valley Senior High School which boasted 447 12th graders and ranked third. These rankings remained unchanged from the prior year. Lakewood High School reported a 12th grade strength of 435 students while its precise rank was not specified.

Significant growth was observed across several schools. McLain Community High School witnessed a substantial elevation in the Class of 2024 size, with a 29.85% increase, jumping from 201 to 261 students. Similarly, the student body at Doral Academy of Colorado increased by 23.57% from 140 to 173 students over the last academic year.

Jeffco Virtual Academy saw its student count swelling by 31.27%, growing from 339 to 445, and Brady Exploration School’s Class of 2024 rose by 27.81%, marking an increase from 187 to 239. Also, there was an increase of 25.53% in the Class of 2024 reported by an unspecified school, expanding from 141 to 177. JeffCo Remote Learning Program also experienced a spike in students graduating in 2022-2023, with a jump from 50% to 75%.

Fletcher Miller School also reported a growth spurt in their student population, with figures rising by 37.5% from 64 to 88 students. As more public high schools continue to adapt to changing educational landscapes, this annual list helps track and anticipate the ongoing trends and shifts in student enrollment across the district.
