
In the landscape of Jefferson County’s nonprofit sector, fiscal year 2022 was marked by remarkable shifts in revenue for various organizations. According to the latest Jeffco Nonprofit Organizations list, while the median company experienced a modest 9% increase in revenue compared to the previous year, several entities witnessed substantial growth.
Leading the pack in terms of revenue surge is Boosters for Families, an Arvada-based organization that facilitates educational and athletic opportunities for children. After a period where revenue plummeted from $1.5 million in fiscal year 2020 to a mere $42,814 in 2021, the organization staged a remarkable comeback, registering a 6,940% increase to reach $3 million in revenue in 2022.
Following closely is the Reisher Family Foundation based in Lakewood, which saw 1,778% growth in revenue from $23.7 million in 2021 to $444.5 million in 2022. This exponential increase was largely fueled by substantial contributions, gifts, and grants, amounting to $438.8 million, with a significant portion being noncash contributions. Established by Roger and Margaret Reisher, the foundation, rooted in the legacy of Roger Reisher’s leadership in FirstBank Holding Co., aims to support education through scholarships, particularly for Colorado undergraduate students.
Mars Society Inc., headquartered in Lakewood, recorded a substantial 969% increase in revenue, climbing from $126,360 in 2021 to $1.4 million in 2022. The organization is dedicated to advancing the exploration and settlement of Mars and the growing interest in space exploration.
Additionally, Colorado Garden Show Inc., also based in Lakewood, experienced a noteworthy revenue uptick of 345%, reaching $3.3 million in 2022. The organization aims to promote horticulture through events like the annual Colorado Garden & Home Show, along with grants and scholarships.
However, not all organizations experienced positive trajectories. Despite the overall trend of growth, 81 organizations witnessed declines in revenue. Notable among them are the Triple Bottom Line Foundation, the Bootstrap ORG Inc., and the Central City Opera House Association Endowment Fund, which saw revenue decreases of 83%, 75%, and 73% respectively.
