CoorsTek, a Golden-based manufacturer of advanced technical ceramics, has announced the grand opening of its third factory in Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea.
Since entering South Korea in 1992, CoorsTek has invested in research and manufacturing facilities at its Gumi factory. The new Gumi third factory aims to respond to the fast-changing demands of the semiconductor market and contribute to the development of the domestic semiconductor ecosystem.
CoorsTek plans to use the new facility as a center for new product introduction. The factory will focus on developing and mass-producing optimal materials for various applications by introducing the CVD SiC manufacturing process, a highly efficient semiconductor material advanced through continuous research since 2010.
CoorsTek’s first Gumi factory, located in the Gumi National Industrial Complex, was established after signing a memorandum of understanding with Gyeongsangbuk-do and the city of Gumi. This created a hub for CoorsTek’s Asian production facilities. The company plans to strengthen its manufacturing competitiveness in Gumi, recognizing the increase in demand for semiconductors and the competitiveness of the domestic semiconductor materials industry.
The opening ceremony of the Gumi third factory was attended by key CoorsTek officials, including Kevin Ressler, president, semiconductor OEM solutions, and Toshiyuki Kikuchi, vice president of manufacturing, OEM solutions. “This new Gumi 3rd factory will serve as a key facility for CoorsTek to conduct cutting-edge research and development and expand production of semiconductor equipment components to respond to market demands,” said Ressler. “The entire CoorsTek team will work together to ensure the continued success of our business in Korea and strengthen the competitiveness of Korea’s semiconductor materials industry.”
