Littleton, Englewood Launch Green Business Program

The City of Littleton is partnering with the City of Englewood on a new shared Green Business Program aimed at enhancing sustainability in city businesses. The partnership was unanimously approved by the Littleton City Council during its Aug. 6 meeting.

The program will be implemented by a Green Business Coordinator employed by Englewood, who will dedicate half of their time to working in Littleton. This coordinator has already been hired and trained by Englewood, and will connect Littleton businesses with resources from the state’s Green Business Network, serving as the primary contact for business owners seeking to improve their sustainability.

“Businesses in Littleton are incredibly important to the health of the city, so we’re looking to support them through this program,” said Deputy City Manager Mike Gent. “As businesses make sustainable choices, hopefully that improves their bottom line.” Gent noted that the program received endorsement from the city’s Environmental Stewardship Board prior to council approval.

The agreement for the program begins in September and will continue through 2026. Littleton will pay Englewood approximately $17,000 this year and around $51,000 in both 2025 and 2026 to cover the coordinator’s compensation. Funding for the program will come from the paper bag fee collected by the city from retailers. Gent and the Economic Development Department will collaborate with Englewood to evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
