Trimble Inc. and Caterpillar Inc. extended their long-standing joint venture aimed at enhancing grade control solutions and expanding distribution options in the construction sector.
Since 2002, the Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies joint venture has developed grade control solutions that improve jobsite safety and productivity. The renewed agreement will provide a broader availability of interoperable grade control solutions through a flexible platform for use by Caterpillar, Trimble and other technology providers and equipment manufacturers.
The strengthened partnership will enable both companies to increase innovation, develop new offerings and explore new industry and geographic opportunities. Customers of Caterpillar will experience more access to technology, including factory-fit grade options and expanded aftermarket and digital offerings. Trimble customers will benefit from enhanced mixed-fleet support and a streamlined access to grade control through Trimble Construction One suite of digital solutions.
“Trimble’s Connect & Scale strategy has created an ecosystem that empowers customers across both the physical and digital worlds,” said Rob Painter, president and CEO of Westminster-based Trimble. “The next phase of our joint venture will drive innovation in grade control technology to expand the industry opportunity with localized and differentiated solutions while improving technology interoperability.”
“Caterpillar and Trimble have a long history of innovating together,” said Tony Fassino, group president of Irving, Texas-based Caterpillar Construction Industries. “We are proud of what we’ve developed to help customers optimize their operations, including grade control. Today’s announcement is a continuation of this collaboration.”
