Broomfield-based Strategic Environmental & Energy Resources Inc. (SEER) (OTCQB: SENR) and its Saudi joint venture partner Eco Tadweer have reported significant advancements in the Green Riyadh project, aligning with the environmental goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi & Middle East Green Initiatives.
In partnership with Biochar Now (BCN) and after engaging Davey Tree Expert Co., SEER and Eco Tadweer achieved substantial success in tree growth studies through the application of biochar in Riyadh. “This is a milestone in SEER’s new global decarbonization and soil regeneration program,” said John Combs, SEER’s CEO.
Biochar has been utilized in a city park, leading to improved soil and plant vitality. “Working with SEER and a leading Saudi university, BCN has developed a proprietary, Ph adjusted biochar product for the specific Saudi soil conditions; a special Saudi char or sorts,” said James Gaspard, CEO of Biochar Now.
The joint venture project involved multiple testing protocols to assess the Saudi char’s impact, including measuring growth effects on indigenous plants and evaluating seed germination and seedlings in nurseries.
The application of “Saudi Char” has shown effectiveness in enhancing the quality of sandy soils, leading to:
- Improved water retention: Biochar increases water-holding capacity, minimizing the need for irrigation.
- Enhanced nutrient retention: Biochar retains essential nutrients, making them available to plants for extended periods.
- Improved soil structure: Biochar enhances soil structure, promoting root growth.
Areej Alturki, CEO of Eco Tadweer, highlighted the initiative’s potential to foster sustainable agriculture and a cleaner environment. “Our mission is to achieve real, sustainable agriculture, clean air and a pollution-free environment, living in harmony with nature while enhancing our Kingdom’s natural resources,” Alturki said.
Building on their initial success, SEER and Eco Tadweer are exploring partnerships with GIGA projects in Saudi Arabia to expand their environmental efforts. This collaboration aims to position Saudi Arabia as a leader in environmental sustainability and innovative land management practices.
A key benefit of the partnership is the generation of audited, fully insured carbon credits that can be traded using smart contracts and blockchain verification. This aligns with Saudi Arabia’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supports broader goals outlined in the Saudi Green Initiative and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
SEER, founded in 1994, identifies, secures and commercializes patented environmental clean technologies across multibillion-dollar sectors, focusing on minimizing hazardous waste and processing waste into renewable fuel.
