Ball Corp., a Broomfield provider of sustainable aluminum packaging, has partnered with Dabur India Ltd. to expand the Réal juice portfolio with the new Réal Bites, now available in fully recyclable aluminum cans in India.
Réal Bites juice features real fruit chunks, providing a unique drinking experience. The juice category in India saw significant growth in 2023, driven by increased consumer interest in healthy beverages and their use during social occasions. The category is projected to grow by over 35 million liters by 2028, fueled by new flavors and innovative products.
The aluminum cans, available in flavors like Peach, Pineapple and Réal Green Apple, come in a 185ml size, catering to on-the-go consumers. The cans provide a shelf life of up to one year, outperforming other packaging formats that offer four to nine months of shelf life.
Aluminum is recognized for its sustainability, as it can be recycled repeatedly without losing its properties, minimizing waste. Utilizing recycled aluminum can save 95% of the energy required when using virgin aluminum, allowing for optimized resource use.
Manish Joshi, commercial director of Asia at Ball, stated, “As consumers shift to healthy beverages and prefer on-the-go consumption, can as a packaging substrate is expected at grow at a CAGR of 12% from 2023 to 2028 in the juice-based category. Ball’s 2-piece aluminium beverage cans are fully recyclable and come in varied sizes to meet the customer requirements. Ball’s cans help our customers achieve their sustainability goals while offering a 360-degree branding opportunity and varied innovation in the print. With Dabur’s Réal Bites, which contain small fruit chunks, the wide opening of the can provided a perfect solution for easy consumption.”
The launch comes as consumers increasingly seek sustainable packaging, aligning with the Indian government’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
