The classic Boppy Nursing Pillow, popular among caregivers for the last 35 years, is getting an update. The Boppy Company LLC is launching its New Boppy Nursing Pillow, featuring a wider opening for a more body-inclusive fit, a firmer and higher loft for better latching and comfort, and a new shape with a larger surface area for both breast and bottle feeding.
Boppy CEO Nancy Bartley said, “Thirty-five years is a long time between ‘children,’ but our New Boppy Nursing Pillow is worth the wait.” Since its founding in 1989, The Boppy Company aimed to provide parents and caregivers with well-designed, high-quality products. The redesigned nursing pillow underwent a rigorous, consumer-focused development process involving over 1,700 hours of hands-on testing with real parents, caregivers and SimpliFed lactation specialists, evaluating more than 20 prototypes before settling on the final design. This redesign was unanimously chosen based on tester feedback, ensuring it meets the needs of today’s families.
“Beyond direct testing, our team analyzed thousands of product reviews and made the new pillow more supportive, easier to put on and remove with one hand and better at facilitating a comfortable feeding position,” Bartley said. The Boppy Company was a leading manufacturer to collaborate with the Federal Government on a new nursing pillow safety standard, which will take effect in April 2025, setting increased safety requirements for all nursing pillows. Boppy proactively ensured that its new design aligns with these guidelines.
The New Boppy Nursing Pillow retains features that caregivers appreciate about the original, including fashionable prints, a machine-washable cover, and recycled hypoallergenic fiber filling. The original design will be phased out in favor of the new version, which will be available in 30 colors and patterns on boppy.com and at retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Babylist and Target. A nursing pillow designed for babies who have difficulty with spit-up is expected to be released this spring. In addition to nursing pillows, Boppy is expanding its product line to include pregnancy pillows, baby carriers, bassinets, play mats and toys.
