Denver Christian School (DCS) in Lakewood has hired Michael Ehrenfried as its new head of school, effective this July. The decision follows a nationwide search coordinated by the DCS Board of Trustees with the support of JobfitMatters, a firm specializing in Christian educational leadership searches. DCS received over 50 applications from candidates across 12 states and three countries.
“We are delighted to introduce Michael as our next head of school,” said Jimmy Masters, Denver Christian’s board president. “Michael brings tremendous experience to the role and a passion for Christian education that will drive Denver Christian to new levels of excellence and impact.”
Ehrenfried has more than two decades of experience in education, specializing in design and innovation in teaching and learning, community formation and systems change. He has spent the last 20 years at Kent Denver School, where he served in various leadership roles, including chief innovation and information officer.
In conjunction with this appointment, DCS has acquired a 34,000-square-foot building adjacent to its current campus, which will be the future DCS High School. The master buildout will add 54,000 square feet, including an outdoor patio, media center/library, art room, dining hall and two large restrooms. A new 19,000-square-foot gym with locker rooms will also be constructed, as well as enhanced landscaping and a separate main entrance.
The new building will house 30 classrooms with a capacity for approximately 500 students, effectively doubling the high school enrollment at DCS.
