The City of Wheat Ridge has launched a suite of advanced digital platforms as part of its Next Chapter Systems Transformation initiative. This project aims to revolutionize city operations, streamline processes and enhance the experience for residents, businesses and city employees.
The transformation includes the rollout of three major systems:
GovOS Revenue: This platform facilitates business licensing and tax remittance, providing 24/7 online access for businesses to manage license renewals and file taxes. All businesses will transition to bi-annual (two-year) license renewal periods starting March 3.
OpenGov Permitting: A centralized hub for permits, contractor licensing, plan reviews, and inspections. Users can track permit statuses in real time, communicate directly with city staff and submit payments easily.
E-Citation System: A new electronic citation system that enables police officers to issue citations digitally via handheld devices during traffic stops, reducing the average traffic stop time from 16 minutes to just 4 minutes. Full deployment of this tool is planned for the week of March 3.
“Streamlining how our community interacts with the city has been a top priority for this council,” said Mayor Pro Tem Korey Stites. “These modern systems simplify processes for residents and businesses alike while providing greater transparency and efficiency in city operations. This is a significant milestone for Wheat Ridge.”
The Next Chapter Systems Transformation also sets the stage for implementing additional technology, including systems for court case management, financial operations and human capital management. These platforms aim to improve internal workflows and enable city employees to better serve the community.
“These updates reflect our commitment to investing in tools that make life easier for everyone,” Stites added. “We’re excited to see how these changes positively impact our city.”
