Gogo Inc. (NASDAQ: GOGO) has confirmed JBJ Participacoes LTDA (JBJ Agropecuaria) as the first customer for its Gogo Galileo HDX system in South America. The Brazil-based farming corporation will leverage high-speed broadband through a compact, electronically steered antenna, which connects to the Eutelsat OneWeb Low Earth Orbit constellation.
The Gogo Galileo terminal includes Gogo Galileo half-duplex ESA and Gogo AVANCE SCS and will be enhanced by Gogo Vision 360 service for improved connectivity and inflight entertainment on previously unconnected aircraft. The system will also support better crew flight plan preparations, inflight weather monitoring and real-time operational data management.
“We regularly fly across Brazil and South America, so we immediately saw the value of adding the Gogo Galileo HDX connectivity system to our aircraft. With the system installed, we can stay productive, keep in touch with our farms and follow the latest relevant industry news, enabling us to make more informed commercial decisions during our extensive trips,” said José Batista Júnior, CEO of JBJ Agropecuaria. “Knowing that the crew’s operational capabilities will be strengthened will make our flight department more operationally and financially efficient, and we’re especially pleased to have access to Gogo’s human customer support and local presence in Brazil.”
The Brazilian maintenance, repair and operations provider, TAM Aviação Executiva, will modify an Embraer Phenom 300 under a supplemental type certificate being developed by Atlas Air Service in Germany. This STC, already approved by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, is expected to be validated for certification by the National Civil Aviation Agency for the Brazilian market.
“Gogo Galileo HDX is perfectly sized for the Phenom 300, and we’re delighted we can provide a solution that has until now, not been available for the South American market. JBJ Agropecuaria will now receive uninterrupted, reliable connectivity, which adds value to their business and their asset,” said Ewerton Libanio, managing director of Gogo Brazil. “This is the first time we’ve worked with JBJ Agropecuaria. Their immediate interest indicates that the broad suite of Gogo products and services is a welcome addition to the South American market.”
Discussions are also underway for installing the Gogo Galileo system on other aircraft in JBJ Agropecuaria’s fleet, along with advanced talks with other South American operators. This first customer announcement underscores the increased value brought to the South American business aviation sector by Broomfield-based Gogo’s recent acquisition of Satcom Direct, streamlining access to high-speed broadband solutions for business aviation owners and operators, as well as military and government customers in the region. The brand’s expansion into South America is expected to align with the sector’s rapid growth.
