Aclarion Inc., a Broomfield health care technology company, has reported that UHealth — University of Miami Health System and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine will be a site for its CLARITY clinical trial. This trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Nociscan, a solution designed to assist physicians in identifying sources of chronic low back pain.
The CLARITY study is a prospective, randomized multi-center trial that will enroll 300 patients scheduled for surgical treatment of low back pain. Patients will undergo Nociscan testing prior to surgery, with the primary goal being to measure changes in back pain after 12 months.
“We believe in customizing treatments to each patient’s pathology, goals, needs and lifestyle, and in this regard, leveraging novel technologies, like Nociscan, to better understand our patient’s low back pain for personalized treatments,” said Dr. Gregory Basil of UHealth.
The University of Miami joins a roster of other participating institutions, including Johns Hopkins Medicine and Northwestern Medicine. This collaboration underscores the importance of advanced technology in improving surgical outcomes for chronic low back pain, a condition affecting approximately 266 million people globally.
