Gogo Gains FAA Approval for Connectivity Upgrade

Broomfield-based Gogo Inc. has reported that its C1 line replaceable unit (LRU) has received Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for 42 aircraft models, allowing continued inflight connectivity for many of its legacy air-to-ground (ATG) customers. This certification, granted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), covers approximately 70% of Gogo’s North American legacy ATG aircraft.

The installation of the Gogo C1 will enable current customers using older ATG systems to transition to Gogo’s upcoming LTE network, set to go live in May 2026. The FAA-approved models include a range of aircraft from manufacturers such as Cessna, Gulfstream, Bombardier, Dassault, Embraer and others.

To facilitate the transition, Gogo is offering a $35,000 installation incentive for C1 installations. The Gogo C1 LRU has been designed for easy installation, the company said, to minimize downtime for customers. Once installed, it features dual-technology capabilities to maintain connectivity during the switch to the new LTE network.

Gogo CEO Chris Moore emphasized the importance of making connectivity upgrades straightforward and efficient for their clients, stating, “ATG continues to represent a valuable connectivity solution for aircraft operating over North America … we’ve invested in creating the Gogo C1 LRU to help clients navigate the practical and financial pathway from legacy ATG services.”
