Westminster-based Trimble Inc. and TDK are collaborating to provide a new navigation solution that combines advanced positioning technology for automotive and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. This partnership aims to enhance accuracy and reliability in navigation, particularly for autonomous vehicles, drones and industrial machinery.
The new solution integrates Trimble’s ProPoint Go engine and RTX correction service with TDK’s inertial measurement units (IMUs). The ProPoint Go engine is designed to deliver high-accuracy position and orientation data by utilizing Trimble’s correction services. It supports multiple GNSS signals and features certified correction data aimed at improving automated driving systems.
TDK’s IMUs incorporate compact motion sensors that provide precise measurements of vehicles’ movement. These components are noted for their performance, size and energy efficiency, making them suitable for various applications in automotive and IoT sectors.
Olivier Casabianca, vice president of advanced positioning at Trimble, said, “Together with TDK we are bringing the power of high-accuracy and precise positioning along with state-of-the art ASIL-certified sensors to help our customers build innovative solutions for automotive and IoT markets.”
Stefano Zanella, VP and general manager at Tokyo-based TDK, mentioned that the collaboration builds on nearly a decade of partnership and aims to accelerate deployment and integration of the technology.
Both companies believe that the enhanced positioning solutions will meet the growing demand for reliable navigation systems in various industries.
