New Wound Care Clinic Coming to Wheat Ridge

A new Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Clinic is set to open at the Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital’s Medical Office Building in Wheat Ridge, bringing specialized care for patients with hard-to-heal wounds. The clinic is expected to open in November and begin treating patients with hyperbaric therapy this winter.

Recently, crews from Saunders Construction Inc. installed two hyperbaric oxygen chambers on the fifth floor of the medical office building. About 8 million people in the U.S. suffer from chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sores and leg wounds from poor circulation.

Hyperbaric therapy is designed to help patients by promoting faster healing of wounds, as well as addressing issues like the long-term effects of cancer treatment and carbon monoxide poisoning. The therapy involves placing patients in a chamber filled with 100% oxygen to support the body’s healing process.

This outpatient service aims to benefit residents in Wheat Ridge, Golden, Arvada, Lakewood and nearby areas. While Lutheran Hospital currently provides wound care for inpatients, this new clinic will enhance available services for outpatient care.

Matthew Ethington, director of wound and hyperbaric services at Intermountain Health, stated, “Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital is incredibly excited to be able to provide a high quality of wound care and hyperbaric services coming in fall 2025.” He emphasized the potential impact of these services on the community.
