Jefferson County Head Start will enhance its early childhood services in Lakewood and Golden this fall following a federal grant from the Office of Head Start. The expansion includes four new locations opening on Oct. 1, 2025, allowing the program to serve an additional 64 preschoolers and 16 toddlers and their families.
The new sites will operate on a four-day school week, with classes held Tuesday through Friday for 7.5 hours each day. The locations include:
- 11th Ave. Head Start Location: 6201 W. 11th Ave., Lakewood, CO 80214 – Serving toddlers and preschoolers
- Patterson Early Head Start and Pre-K Location: 1470 and 1480 S. Yarrow St., Lakewood, CO 80232 – Serving toddlers and preschoolers
- Patterson Pre-K Location: 7735 W. Florida Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232 – Serving preschoolers
- Daniels Head Start Location: 1301 Union St., Golden, CO 80401 – Serving preschoolers
Jefferson County Head Start has been providing no-cost preschool and infant/toddler care since 1997. The program currently supports children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
