Energy Fuels Produces High-Purity Dysprosium Oxide

Energy Fuels Inc. has successfully produced its first kilogram of dysprosium oxide at its White Mesa Mill in Utah, achieving a purity level of 99.9%. This exceeds the commercial specification of 99.5%. The mill is set to continue producing dysprosium oxide at a rate of two kilograms per week.

The dysprosium oxide is sourced from monazite mined in Florida and Georgia, showcasing Lakewood-based Energy Fuels’ capability to establish a non-Chinese supply chain for rare earth oxides. The company is believed to be the first in the U.S. to produce such high-purity dysprosium oxide and disclose actual production volumes.

Several magnet manufacturers have expressed interest in obtaining samples for validation processes. Energy Fuels plans to conduct pilot-scale production until approximately 15 kilograms of dysprosium oxide are produced, after which it aims to produce high-purity terbium oxide, targeting Q4 2025 for its initial samples.

In light of the success of this project, Energy Fuels intends to build commercial-scale separation capacity for dysprosium, terbium and potentially other rare earth elements by Q4 2026. The company’s achievements highlight its growing capabilities in delivering critical minerals in the U.S.
