Red Rocks Community College Expands Health Programs with New Nursing Degree

Red Rocks Community College has introduced a new Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program, welcoming its first cohort of 16 students this fall. This program prepares students for careers as Registered Nurses in various health care settings.

Upon completing the program, graduates will be eligible to take the National Council of Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing. The program is approved by the Colorado State Board of Nursing and the Higher Learning Commission.

Dean of Academic Affairs and Arvada Campus Director Jennifer Kroetch said, “Red Rocks Community College is thrilled to offer a high-quality, cost-effective pathway to the nursing profession. This is a great option for students in the western Denver metropolitan area seeking to earn an affordable nursing degree.”

Students will receive classroom education and 750 hours of clinical training at several hospitals in the Denver area, including St. Anthony’s and Good Samaritan. The program is part of Red Rocks’ efforts to address the nursing shortage in Colorado.

In addition to the new nursing program, the college offers other health-related training, including a Nurse Aide certificate and a pathway to a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at the University of Colorado.
