Gogo Unveils Connectivity Upgrade for Bombardier Jets

Gogo Inc. has reported that Switzerland-based QCM Design has received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval for a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) supporting the retrofit installation of its Galileo HDX antenna on Bombardier Global 5000 and 6000 series aircraft. This STC was developed in collaboration with ACC Columbia Jet Service and covers various models, including the Global Express and Global XRS.

The first installation has been completed on a Bombardier Global 5000 operated by Skyside, which now provides passengers with high-speed connectivity through the Eutelsat OneWeb LEO satellite network. This upgrade enables seamless web browsing, video conferencing and streaming.

Christian Schusser, CEO of QCM Design, stated, “We are extremely proud to confirm this STC and look forward to working with Gogo customers seeking to upgrade their existing connectivity services or take the first step in optimizing this innovative new technology.”

The addition of the Gogo Galileo HDX antenna is expected to enhance the digital experience for passengers, said Dave Falberg, senior VP of sales – EMEA APAC at Broomfield-based Gogo. He noted the importance of reliable connectivity for passenger satisfaction.

QCM Design also anticipates further approvals from regulators, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA), following the initial EASA approval.
