Rendezvous Robotics, Starcloud Launch Space Data Partnership

Golden-based Rendezvous Robotics and Starcloud have announced a partnership aimed at developing power and data infrastructure in orbit. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding to integrate Rendezvous’ autonomous assembly technology with Starcloud’s orbital power generation systems.

This collaboration is significant as it seeks to establish gigawatt-scale data centers and power systems in space, a crucial step toward scalable energy and computing resources beyond Earth. The companies will evaluate technical pathways and business models for future orbital systems that support high-performance computing and energy applications.

Phil Frank, CEO of Rendezvous Robotics, noted, “Every industrial era is defined by its infrastructure — and the next one will be built in orbit.” Philip Johnston, CEO of Starcloud, added, “Partnering with Rendezvous gives us the ability to scale our orbital power and cooling systems to meet the growing demand for space-based datacenters and AI workloads.”

The partnership aims to address challenges related to mass, cooling, and scalability in existing systems, paving the way for continuous, efficient computing and energy generation in space. The initiative may lead to flight demonstrations of integrated systems in orbit, advancing the concept of gigawatt-scale orbital infrastructure.

Rendezvous Robotics specializes in autonomous in-space assembly, while Starcloud develops GPU computing clusters for various applications in low Earth orbit. Together, they plan to contribute to the future of space-based data and energy solutions.
