CCU Receives $5M Gift for Athletic Facilities

Colorado Christian University (CCU) announced a significant anonymous donation of $5 million, one of the largest in its history, that will advance its Athletics Facilities Campaign. This contribution allows the university to initiate phase one of its first dedicated athletics facility.

The new athletic facilities aim to support CCU’s student-athletes and reflect the university’s mission. The anonymous donor was motivated by the success of CCU’s graduates who also participated in athletics and hopes the facilities will enhance the university’s ability to attract top Christian student-athletes nationwide.

CCU President Eric Hogue stated, “This moment is nothing short of historic for Colorado Christian University. Our student-athletes compete with exceptional heart, discipline, integrity, and grit. This extraordinary generosity allows us to build facilities that match their dedication.”

The campaign has gained traction through several major contributions, including a $2 million matching gift from former CCU athletes Scott and Donna Miller. This follows a previous $2.5 million anonymous gift, marking a significant financial push for the athletics department.

Dr. Neal Anderson, vice president of Student Life, emphasized the role of athletics in fostering a Christ-centered community, noting that the new facilities will help in recruiting student-athletes who value both competitive excellence and spiritual growth.

Phase one aims to deliver improved outdoor athletic spaces, enhancing training for CCU’s 13 varsity sports teams and supporting ongoing program expansion. Athletics Director Jon Poag shared that these facilities will positively impact training, competition, and leadership development among student-athletes.

With $4.4 million still needed to complete the campaign, CCU is appealing for further donations to fully fund these new facilities. Daniel LaBry from University Advancement highlighted the initiative’s goal of attracting talented student-athletes who will become leaders in various professional fields. He urged alumni and supporters to contribute to reach the campaign’s goal, emphasizing that this is a collective effort.

As fundraising efforts continue, CCU looks forward to breaking ground on these new facilities, marking a historic step in its commitment to providing Christ-centered higher education.
