Encore Electric To Update Giraffe Enclosure at Zoo

Encore Electric is leading a substantial renovation of the giraffe enclosure at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. The project will enhance the habitat for the giraffe herd while improving visitor amenities with the addition of a new giraffe barn, café, and gift shop.

Spanning 12,000 square feet, the new barn will include features such as temperature-controlled spaces and expanded outdoor areas, providing the giraffes with a 25% increase in roaming space. The new habitat, located within the African Rift Valley exhibit, is designed to improve the quality of life for the giraffes by ensuring they can engage with their environment.

Encore Electric is responsible for installing the electrical infrastructure, which includes a new electrical service panel and a generator, implemented in a way that maintains the aesthetics of the habitat. Safety and minimal disruption to the animals and zoo visitors have been a priority throughout the construction process.

This project not only aims to create a better living space for the giraffes but also provides visitors with a more engaging experience at the zoo. The enclosure is expected to be completed by summer 2026.
