The NREL Foundation has officially changed its name to the Foundation for the National Laboratory of the Rockies. This change follows the completion of a new License Agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy.
The updated name enhances the Foundation’s alignment with the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) and clarifies its role as the laboratory’s designated charitable partner. The Foundation’s mission remains intact: to promote a secure and affordable energy future by expanding NLR’s research and innovation through partnerships and charitable support.
In conjunction with the name change, the Foundation appointed Heather Reams and Kian Nobari to its Board of Directors. Reams has extensive experience in energy policy and nonprofit governance, while Nobari brings a background in finance and operational leadership. Their expertise is expected to support the Foundation’s long-term goals and strengthen its partnerships.
“We are pleased to formally launch the Foundation for the National Laboratory of the Rockies and to welcome two outstanding new leaders to our Board,” said Wendolyn Holland, Chair and President of the Foundation. “This moment reflects both continuity and momentum. Our mission remains the same, and our leadership is strengthened as we expand the reach and impact of the Laboratory’s work.”
All current programs and initiatives will continue without interruption.
