Arvada and Wheat Ridge Lead Surge in Jeffco Spring Hiring

The Jefferson County labor market is showing significant signs of a “spring awakening,” according to the latest BdB Hiring Index released today. The weekly tracker, which monitors job openings across the county’s primary municipalities, reveals a broad upward trend in recruitment activity as local businesses gear up for the second quarter.

Arvada has emerged as the county’s hiring powerhouse this week, with 62% of its key businesses actively recruiting. Close on its heels is Wheat Ridge at 60%, marking a notable jump for the city’s light industrial and retail corridors. Market analysts suggest that the high activity in these areas reflects a mix of seasonal service industry needs and a robust expansion in the local tech and manufacturing sectors.

While Arvada and Wheat Ridge lead the pack, the rest of the county remains competitive:

  • Golden maintains a strong presence with 54% of businesses hiring, likely bolstered by the city’s engineering and craft brewing hubs.
  • Lakewood, the county’s largest employment center, remains steady at 50%.
  • Westminster (Jefferson County portion) rounds out the list at 45%.

The average hiring rate across all tracked Jefferson County cities now sits at 54.2%, up from the previous month’s trailing average.

For job seekers, the data suggests that now is the prime window for applications, particularly in the northern and central corridors of the county where the concentration of open roles is currently highest.
