Pinkard Completes $9.6M Bay Aquatic Park Renovation

Pinkard Construction, in collaboration with Broomfield Recreation Services and BHA Design, has completed the $9.6 million renovation of Bay Aquatic Park in Broomfield, ahead of schedule and under budget. The project involved the complete demolition and replacement of the leisure pool and three water slides, along with an expanded pool deck and a new mechanical building.

Over the 10.5-month construction period, Lakewood-based Pinkard implemented various efficiencies to manage risks of delays, particularly during winter. One notable improvement was the installation of a stainless steel gutter system, which simplified the infrastructure and helped save time and costs. The project saved Broomfield an additional $250,000 through efficient planning and procurement processes, allowing for upgrades to various mechanical and structural systems of the park.

A significant emphasis was placed on water tightness testing for the pool and surge tank. The tests confirmed the integrity of the pool shell and ensured optimal performance of the surge tank.

Broomfield officials expressed their excitement about the project’s completion and the additional enhancements made possible by the savings. The revamped facilities reopened to the community on July 7.
