Lakewood’s Economic Development Office said it is working with state and county partners to provide rapid response services for employees who could be affected by potential layoffs related to a WARN notice filed by PNC/FirstBank.
The office said it has been in direct communication with PNC/FirstBank to better understand workforce needs and to offer support resources for jobseekers. Lakewood said PNC/FirstBank has been headquartered in Lakewood for more than 60 years and employs about 4,326 people in the state as of 2025. As many as 777 employees, or 18% of the bank’s Lakewood staff, will lose their jobs as part of PNC’s restructuring effort, according to multiple sources.
The city said it plans to work with PNC/FirstBank, a primary employer in Lakewood, to help affected employees access tools, services, and opportunities during the transition.
Why this is newsworthy: The city’s coordination effort addresses potential job impacts from a WARN notice, which can affect thousands of workers and local employment conditions.
