Arvada to Begin Street Maintenance in Olde Town

The City of Arvada will start regular street pavement maintenance in the Olde Town Arvada Pedestrian Zone on May 11, 2026. This project aims to enhance safety and aesthetics in the popular business district.

As part of the maintenance, all outdoor seating areas, parklets, fireplaces, and electric lights along the streets will be removed. The work will occur on Grandview Avenue between Webster Street and Olde Wadsworth, and on Olde Wadsworth between Grandview Avenue and Grant Place. Despite the construction, all businesses will remain open.

Maintenance will include crack sealing, street sealing, and the removal of existing street murals that were installed in 2021. The City and the Arvada Arts and Culture Commission plan to develop new murals later in 2026.

Beginning with the removal of outdoor elements and mural stripping on May 11, the work is expected to continue through the week of May 16, with completion and return of all outdoor items anticipated by May 22, weather permitting.

The City is collaborating with the Olde Town Arvada Business Improvement District to keep local businesses informed. “We have been in communication with businesses already to ensure the impact of this project on the popular Olde Town district is minimal,” said City of Arvada Deputy City Manager Allison Scheck.

Businesses have the option to store outdoor items themselves or have the City handle storage during the construction. Street coning and taping will be noticeable, and pedestrians are advised to stay clear of these areas for safety reasons.

The timing of the project aims to limit disruption over the summer, which is expected to see an influx of visitors. “We’re excited for Olde Town to be getting a face lift before we see an influx in visitors for our busy summer season,” said Olde Town BID Interim Executive Director Jean Gordon. Additionally, the City has established a designated drinking area in Olde Town that may further attract visitors this summer.
