Pioneer Energy to supply Rolfson Oil field gas systems

Pioneer Energy, an oilfield technology company based in Lakewood, has announced its involvement in the deployment of field gas conditioning equipment for frac jobs using Rolfson Oil’s Tri-Fueling approach. This initiative aims to reduce fuel costs in the hydraulic fracturing industry by incorporating field gas as an alternative energy source.

The company will provide mechanical refrigeration units and auxiliary skids that ensure high-quality fuel gas by removing water and heavy hydrocarbons from field gas. These systems can be utilized individually or together to meet the specific needs of frac fleet applications. Rolfson Oil’s automated fueling systems will then distribute this conditioned gas to equipment onsite.

Joseph Palaia, Vice President of Business Development at Pioneer Energy, said, “The industry continues to look for practical ways to reduce frac fuel costs, and increased utilization of field gas presents an immediate pathway to accomplish this.” Both Pioneer Energy and Rolfson Oil emphasize that the Tri-Fueling delivery model represents a significant advancement in the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of fuel consumption in frac operations.

As pressure grows for operators to lower fuel costs and improve emissions performance, this collaboration points to a shift towards greater use of field gas in the sector.
